Sustainability Forum

We are presenting at the Holcim sustainability forum in San Jose, Costa Rica on November 16, 2006.

Holcim Ltd. is one of the world's leading suppliers of cement, as well as aggregates (crushed stone, sand and gravel), concrete and construction-related services with interests in more than 70 countries. Holcim joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in 1999. This coalition of 175 international companies is united by a shared commitment to sustainable development via the three pillars of economic growth, ecological balance, and social progress. Holcim took its commitment to a new level by launching the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction in 2003.

The Holcim Foundation reinforces public awareness of the significant role in society that architecture, engineering, and construction have toward achieving a more sound and sustainable future. Meeting present-day needs for housing and infrastructure without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs in times to come is one of society's greatest challenges.

"Social responsibility has always been a cornerstone of Holcim's commitment to SD. It is about caring for people: our employees and our neighbors as well as our customers and suppliers. We are determined to contribute to improving the quality of the lives of our stakeholders within our spheres of influence."
