Amon Collective

Preliminary design of a mixed-use collective housing block. The project proposal is developed by the Micropolis group for a private client in San José, Costa Rica.

The building is located next to the river Torres and the entrance to the botanical garden Bolivar in the north of one of the four historical central districts of Costa Rica's capital San José, called El Carmen. The threshold between urban green and grey defines the program allocation and shape of the bioclimatic building design.

Besides creating a high quality architecture in this abandoned urban area, the project aims at improving its immediate urban surrounding. Similar types of urban acupuncture in both private and public spaces are proposed to reanimate the historical central districts of San José, such as A.U.F., C.C.M.E.C., El Pochote, T.B.C., and Trama Verde.
