This design study for a private client in San José proposes a single family home overlooking the central valley of Costa Rica. The characteristic V shape of the upper floors responds to the building's spectacular site and view exposure.
The bioclimatic building design responds to the objectives of a passive energy consumption pattern, using natural ventilation and large roof overhangs for shading the different programmatic volumes. It interprets the local "cultura del techo" (culture of the roof), which refers to the traditional characteristic appearance of roof structures that provide protection from the tropical climate.
