The involvement of women in decision-making processes related to agricultural production in Central America has traditionally been very low. The goal of the Fairtrade Labelling Organization (FLO) is to promote gender equity in small-scale producers organizations. Villalobos y Asociados was asked to do an assessment of the present gender situation in FLO certified organizations of Guatemala and develop strategies that promote the full socio-economic and political participation of women in these organisations within a value chain framework.
